Brief Description

The RED BUG HILL CHALLENGE includes cycling 5, 20, 40, or 60 miles through the rolling hills near St. Francisville, LA. Running events include a 5k trail run and a 1 mile fun run. Entering any event gives you a ticket in the prize raffle held after all events. Riders have the option of participating in the RED BUG HILL CHALLENGE, which gives them the opportunity to earn another raffle ticket and an age group award.

Schedule:

Event day registration starts at 6:30 AM. 60-mile ride: 8:00 AM, 40-mile ride: 9:00 AM, 20-mile ride: 9:30 AM, 5-mile ride: 9:45 AM, Fun run: 10:30 AM, 5k Trail Run: 10:35 AM, RED BUG HILL CHALLENGE: any time between 7:00 AM and 12:00 PM.

How The Red Bug Hill Challenge Works

Red Bug Hill is one of the toughest hills in West Feliciana Parish. Riders wanting to participate will be timed from the bottom to the top one at a time. Riders will be given an extra raffle ticket for entering the challenge. Age group winners will also receive an award.

 The Prize Raffle:

The Prize Raffle will be held after the completion of all events. There will be thousands of dollars worth of prizes, including bikes, electronics, gift certificates, athletic gear, and more. Remember, to earn another raffle ticket, take the RED BUG HILL CHALLENGE!

Remembering Jordy Rourke:

The RED BUG HILL CHALLENGE is held in memory of Jordy Rourke, who died unexpectedly of a heart attack in May 2008. Although Jordy was born with Spina Bifida and used a leg brace to walk, he led a full and active life. He had just completed his second year at Millsaps College. Jordy enjoyed many things: fishing, swimming playing the guitar, and spending time with family and friends. He led a life of service, working with Habitat for Humanity, Campus Ministry, and Lions Camp.

Proceeds and Donations:

All proceeds and donations from the RED BUG HILL CHALLENGE will help individuals with Spina Bifida in Louisiana. Donate in any of three ways: 1., online when registering, 2., to SBGNO, P.O.Box 1346, Kenner, LA 70063, or by check on the day of the event.

Directions from downtown Baton Rouge:

Take 1-110 NORTH all the way to the end. Turn RIGHT at the end of the exit ramp and go NORTH on Hwy 61. Continue on Hwy 61 for approximately 30 miles. Proceed THROUGH the town of St. Francisville. Approximately 8 miles NORTH of town, turn RIGHT on Hwy. 421. 13918 Hwy 421 is 3 miles down on your left.

 Entertainment and Food:

Join in the post-ride activities that include the raffle, food, drinks, and live entertainment. All of the day's events take place at Mike and Marie Rourke's farm.
